A showing of the film "God's Architects"
Zack Godshall, director and producer of the 2009 film GOD’S ARCHITECTS.
Mr. Godshall will discuss and present the film for the first time in north
Louisiana
After earning an MFA in Film Directing from UCLA in 2005, Zachary Godshall
returned to his native south Louisiana, where he continues to live and
work. With an ongoing interest in the stories and people of Louisiana,
Godshall has combined his background in literature, photography, and film
to produce a unique and sensitive view of his subject matter. His first
feature film, LOW AND BEHOLD– was an Official Selection of the 2007 Sundance
Film Festival. He currently teaches film and screen writing at LSU in
Baton Rouge while he works to produce LORD BYRON, a fictional film about
an aimless man in search of the good life.
According to the film’s website, God's Architects is a documentary that
tells the stories of five divinely inspired artist-architects and their
enigmatic creations. The film details how and why these oft-marginalized
creators, with neither funding nor blueprints, construct their self-made
environments. Godshall collaborated on this film with Emilie Taylor, who
served a co-producer and currently works at the Tulane School of Architecture
as an instructor.
The film project, which took three years to complete and earned Godshall
the 2009 Louisiana Filmmaker of the Year Award at the New Orleans Film
Festival, “both examines and celebrates the nature of inspiration and
one's dedication to a creative project, no matter how absurd or mysterious
the circumstances may seem.”
