L. William Zahner, President and CEO of the Kansas City-based engineering and fabrication company A. Zahner Company , will present a lecture entitled A Fabricator’s Perspective: Highly Integrated Process .

With its beginnings in the late 1800’s, A. Zahner Company has led the metal fabrication industry through its continual mastery of new materials and new processes. Known worldwide for its innovative use of metals in artwork and architecture, A. Zahner Company has consulted with architects Frank Gehry, Steven Holl, Morphosis, Herzog and de Meuron and Studio Daniel Libekind. The facility in Kansas City is the center for producing some of the most innovative applications of metals in the world. According to the company website, “the architectural industry is in the midst of a shift to digital construction. Zahner is on the forefront of this shift, using Building Information Modeling and Digital Definition to provide a transparent construction process. The result is reduced construction errors, leaner construction, and high-tech craftsmanship.”

L. William Zahner earned the title of Honorary AIA in 2007. Thom Mayne, FAIA and principal of Morphosis describes Mr. Zahner as “an absolute leader in innovation, consistently pushing the tectonic limits of architecture.
