Tuesday,
January 20th, 2009 Alfred
Zollinger was trained as a precision machinist in Switzerland, where
he worked at Rolex S.A. He studied architecture at Rhode Island School
of Design, and completed his post-professional studies at Cranbrook Academy
of Art, where he was the lead designer and project manager on a number
of widely published design/build projects completed by the Cranbrook Architecture
Office. Zollinger's interest in making as a mode of critical inquiry characterizes
his current practice, Matter, which he cofounded in 2001. Matter has completed
a range of interior projects including exhibition designs for numerous
institutions including the Cooper-Hewitt Museum and the National Building
Museum, in addition to several residential projects. He has taught at
the ETH in Zurich, RISD, and at Parsons since 2006. Lectures
are available for CEUs. |
