Described by Mark Twain as "the land of dreams and romance, of fabulous wealth and poverty, of palaces and havelis, of tigers and elephants, the cobra and the jungle, the country of a hundred nations and hundred tongues, of a thousand religions and two million gods," India is nothing, if not diverse. That diversity - the variety of settings and the spirit of accommodation in which so many distinct cultures live side by side - makes India's national identity as unique and fascinating as any on Earth. It is only in India that five thousand year old social norms, ritual conventions and artistic traditions comfortably coexist with the most modern achievements of science and technology. This spring, The School of Architecture is hosting the "Discover India Exhibition" which is designed to provide information about this fascinating country and its art, architecture and culture. Explore photographs of the historic monuments of India, colorful textiles, paintings, sculpture and artifacts in various exhibits: surely it will provide feast to your eyes and oh, do not forget to stop by at the Interfaith Temple where incense, lamps and flowers stimulate your senses and provide peace of mind! This exhibition will also provide an opportunity for you all to experience the Indian Bazaar where spices sizzle and mouthwatering treats await you and music and dance may raise your heartbeat or two! We invite you to join us in this tantalizing journey where all your senses will be challenged!

The Exhibition opens on Monday, March 13, 2006. The festivities will start with the Indian Bazaar opening at 4:00 P.M. and Indian Entertainment Stage at 4:30 P.M. The Indian bazaar and the entertainment stage will be setup in the Hale Hall front courtyard; the main exhibition will be in the Hale Hall architecture gallery.

If you can't make it on the opening day, the exhibition will be open until April 11 but you will miss the hustle -bustle of the India bazaar and the entertainment provided by our performers.
