THEMATIC

The heart of the General Studies degree is an Interdisciplinary
Thematic Concentration which consists of 24 hours (usually eight
three-hour courses) chosen from at least two related disciplines.
Students must pursue six to twelve hours of particular disciplines
within the thematic concentration. For example, if a student chooses
a concentration in social sciences, he or she might take twelve
hours of sociology, six hours of political science, and six hours
of geography, thus developing a true interdisciplinary foundation.
Arts: art, architecture, interior design, music theory, music history, and theatre.
Humanities:
English, technical writing, journalism, history, speech communication, pre-professional speech-language pathology, foreign languages, and philosophy.
Social
Sciences: anthropology, sociology, psychology, economics, geography, geographic information systems, and political science.
