Call
to Order: Helen Baxter
The January 28, 2002 meeting of the University
Senate was called to order at 4:10 p.m. in Prescott Memorial Library, Room 334,
by President Helen Baxter.

Roll
Call: Rose Butler
Senators absent from the meeting were Ram Aditya,
Nancy Alexander, Ben Choi, Tianhong Cui, Jim Dickson, Dianne Douglas, Tony
Grice, Susan Hilton, Tony Inman, Dwayne Jerro, Frank Ji, Tommy Grafton, Winston
McVea, Randy Parker, Steve Patton, Bill Ray, Roger Shelor, Maurice Tassin, Dena
Westerfield, Lamar Wilkinson.

Adoption
of Agenda: Helen Baxter
As there were not enough members to make a quorum,
no vote was taken to accept the agenda.

Adoption
of the December 17, 2001 minutes.
As there were not enough members to make a quorum,
no vote was taken to accept the minutes.

Announcements: Helen Baxter
Senate members were reminded to be prepared to
submit names for the F. J. Taylor award at the February, 2002 meeting.

report
As there were not enough members to make a quorum,
no vote was taken to accept the Treasurer’s report.

Evaluation Form Revision Committee Update – No report

Tech
Parking Committee Report – Rick Simmons
Rick Simmons reported the information concerning the
Faculty/Staff survey on parking conditions at Tech. This information is posted on the University Senate webpage. Steve Graves also gave information detailing
the survey.
d.
Tree
Memorial Update – Helen Baxter
A tree will be planted with a permanent marker to honor
the victims of September 11, 2001.
8.
New
Business
a. Travel Reimbursement – Don Braswell
Don Braswell informed the Senate of the importance
of keeping their Driver Safety Certifications up-to-date. Not keeping it up-to-date may cause a
faculty/staff member to not be reimbursed for mileage on approved travel.
