Scholarship (publications, creative works, research, grants, presentations):
Dr. Stephen Webre’s article “Defense, Economy, and Politics in Seventeenth-Century Nicaragua: Don Fernando Francisco de Escobedo and the Fortification of the San Juan River, 1672-1673,” appears in the latest number of the Jahrbuch für Geschichte Lateinamerikas.
Dr. Nazir Atassi gave a talk entitled “From Engineering to History: An Uncommon Path of a Historian” at the annual Phi Alpha Theta Initiation (01/31/2008).
Service (university, profession, community):
Dr. Brian Etheridge has been appointed Director of the Honors Program for Louisiana Tech University.
Dr. Brian Etheridge has been voted onto the nominating committee of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR).
Dr. Stephen Webre is currently leading a Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities RELIC program, “Louisiana Characters: Biographies of the Bayou State,” at the Lincoln Parish Public Library.
