Philip C. Cook
McGinty Professor of History

A member of the Louisiana Tech University faculty since 1969, Philip C. Cook received the PhD in history from the University of Georgia. He is a specialist in modern European history and in Louisiana history, with an emphasis on North Louisiana. Dr. Cook is a Fellow of the Louisiana Historical Association, a member of the national council of Phi Alpha Theta, a former president of the North Louisiana Historical Association and the Louisiana Historical Association, and a member of the Louisiana State Review Committee of the National Register of Historic Places. The 1992 recipient of the F. Jay Taylor Tech Foundation Undergraduate Teaching Award, in 1995 Dr. Cook was named to the William Y. Thompson Endowed Professorship in History. In 1999, he became the Garnie W. McGinty Professor of History. He received the Louisiana Historical Associations Lifetime Meritorious Service Award in 2007.
