Dr. Stoff joined the history faculty at Louisiana Tech University in the fall of 2006. She received her PhD from the University of Kansas and specializes in Russian, East European, and women's and gender history, with particular focus on the modern period. Dr. Stoff serves as the Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of History. Her book, They Fought for the Motherland: Russia's Women Soldiers in World War I and the Revolution, details the experiences of the women who served as combatants during the First World War in Russia. Currently, she is researching the participation of Russian women in medical services in World War I.
Her most recent article,"The ‘Myth of the War Experience’ and Russian Wartime Nursing in World War I," was published in the journal Aspasia, The International Yearbook of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern European Women's and Gender History Vol. 6 (2012).
Dr. Stoff is also part of the international editorial team for the multi-volume project "Russia's Great War and Revolution," and will serve as lead editor for a volume exploring the frontline experiences of soldiers, nurses, and prisoners of war.
