McGinty Undergraduate History Scholarships
Application Form: WORD PDF
In honor of Dr. Garnie W. McGinty, former head of the Department of History at Louisiana Tech University, scholarships are awarded by the department to outstanding undergraduate history majors on a competitive basis. To be eligible for consideration, an incoming freshman should have an ACT score of 26 or above. A student already enrolled at the university should have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.
The amount of each scholarship is determined by the qualifications of the applicant. A scholarship recipient must be an undergraduate student majoring in history at Louisiana Tech University.
To remain eligible, each scholarship recipient must be a full-time student (which is defined as carrying at least an 8-hour course load), and must maintain a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.0 each quarter. A student who fails to meet any of these requirements may forfeit part or all of the scholarship.
Each McGinty Undergraduate History Scholarship is awarded for one academic year. A recipient may, however, apply for renewal on a yearly basis. Applicants for renewal should have no less than a 3.00 cumulative GPA, and do not need letters of recommendation.
