- New HKN sponsor
- Claude J. Irby has been contacted about position as HKN sponsor. He is willing to accept the
position. This issue needs to be discussed and voted upon during the next meeting.
- We need to order more tie tacks, pins, bents, etc.
- We need to send in information to national headquarters and get certificates for last spring's
initiates
- HKN tutoring program
- Mondays & Thursdays from 5-7 pm
- Classes: EE only (221, 222, 311, 321, 331, 332)
- Begin tutoring on Thursday, Sept. 7
- Dr. Roemer gave us Nethken 105
- Flyers - Mark Miller in charge of creating flyers, need to be distributed
- Officers received job descriptions
- Pledge activities/options
- Requirements: 1) Bent/Plaque -- finished & signed by members & faculty
- 2) Shine/Polish HKN Bridge outside Nethken
- 3) Complete HKN test
- Publicity for new initiates
- We need to send letters to pledges' parents inviting them to attend the initiation ceremonies.
We want to try to announce the pledges in the local papers and the pledges' home papers.
- Announcement of officers' elections/positions in local and home papers.
- HKN has a WWW home page maintained by Bill Burgess. The exact location needs to be
established.
- Vice President replacement (Wes is gone for CO-OP)
- Wes will be dropped as VP. We need to elect a new VP at the next meeting. If one of the
current officers is chosen, the open position must be filled.
- Important events which need to be completed each quarter
- 1) Fund raiser
- 2) Service project
- 3) Party -- bowling, swimming, cookout, etc.
- We need to select a project manager to plan and coordinate each event.
- Selecting a project manager will get more people involved and develop better relationships
between members.
- HKN meetings to be held on the first Tuesday of each month
- Plans being made to hang a bulletin board by the IEEE board
- EE department will help with funds
- For next meeting, each officer is to brainstorm ideas for fund raisers, service projects, etc.
- Electrical Engineering shirts
- Plans are being made to sell EE shirts at the beginning of the Spring Quarter. If possible, a
local company can donate 75-80 shirts in exchange for their name being placed on the shirt.
The design of the shirt has not been decided. Possibly an art contest with a $50 prize for best
design. A manager has not been selected yet.
