News Department

News Director Emily Scalfano

The KLPI news department is made up of a news director/public relations officer along with a newly formed news staff. This team works to collect and condense all the news, school announcements and concert announcements that are aired on KLPI.

Our news comes from a daily college fax news service. We also try to include current music and entertainment news, gathered from various online sources. The program log rotates the news, school announcements and concert announcements every hour. DJs can choose what they read on air from a variety of news and announcements.

The school announcements are collected from fliers and information found on campus, as well as from organizations that turn in announcements to be broadcast. Any campus organizations can drop off announcements at the station, email them to news@891klpi.org or contact the news director at 257-4851.

Concert announcements usually include information on shows in Ruston, Monroe, Shreveport, Dallas, Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Occasionally the news department obtains free concert tickets to give away on air. If any band, entertainment group, bar, restaurant, club or organization would like to broadcast announcements on KLPI, email them to news@891klpi.org or contact the news director at 257-4851.

The news department is also responsible for the public relations aspect of KLPI. We organize various events around Ruston and on campus. We can do on-location live remotes, and have promotional information about the station available.
