Brandt Cooley and Tribalistic Daze, 5-23-03, Ponchatulas
A (very) short review
So, what do you get when you put a bunch of laid back friends together with some bongos (maybe a doumbek or dundun), a djembe, a guitar, a mic, and a synth? Exactly that. Or, as they like to call themselves: Tribalistic Daze (Days?).
For a very simple summary: they were good. I don't mean this in the same way I say Thursday is "good" (aka, awesome), I mean that they were worth my time and didn't make me cringe. Sure, it wasn't much more (from my perspective) than a composed jam session, but it worked. They seemed to feel the music, which is a good quality to have. A lot of music these days is cold and processed, and this was just a bunch of musicians honestly feeling their way throught the dark. I'd see them again.
Brandt Cooley, I won't review. Needless to say I'll be at most every one of his shows, but only partially because he's a very good musicians and songwriter. That's it. I'll say: check out brandt if he's playing near you (meaning: drive to ruston if you're close).
told you it'd be a short review. |
