Welcome back to an exciting, and cold (very very cold) winter quarter at LA Tech. To celebrate this one-a-year freezing occasion, Union Board is pleased to present: A Winter Wonderland! (a.k.a our kick-@$$ name for the annual Christmas in the Plaza). As usual, we’re bringing to you, the community of Louisiana Tech, and also Ruston, an unforgettable event this time around.

On Tuesday night December 9, 2008, from 5pm-9pm, you should come and join us in the Centennial Plaza at Louisiana Tech University. All of our activities are free and open to the public. Some of the exciting things to do, include:

• Christmas Karaoke
• Gingerbread Houses
• Build-a-Bear
• Make your own ornaments
• Pictures with Santa Clause
• Hot cocoa, cookies, finger sandwiches, smores, and more
• Christmas in the Plaza shirts for $10

You know what I meant! Yes, bring it on! Or up, or down, whatever suit you. We couldn’t find good players in the Rock, Paper, Scissors competition last year, so hopefully, you will bring us some tonight. It’s kinda a short notice, but please bare with us, as we’ll bring the top players the choice to pick up any one of the PS3, flat screen, Sony laptop, or iPod and walk away un-harm with it. What does it takes to enter? Your student ID, and nothing else. So come on out tonight (October 21, 2008) @ 7pm in the TONK and challenge us in this ultimate game of 1-on-1 handling exercise.

 
YES! Door Prizes! AND a contest for the best 70′ costume. That’s right! Costume contest! It’s time to use your Halloween’s clothing early. We’re giving you an excuse, so get it on tomorrow. All of this is just halftime of what appears to be the classiest Talent Show that Union Boards has ever put on. If you’ve been to last year show, you know how crazy it was, so get there early before we run outta seats (or room for that matter! you’re officially warned). We are, as usual, working our hardest setting up for the show in the TONK. By 6pm tomorrow (as of this post, that’s Tuesday, Oct 14, 2008) doors will be open, and stories shall be told by 7pm. Get there early to fight for your place (ok, kidding, no fighting, but seriously, get there early) and bring a friend; two friends if you have them, or more, we really don’t have a limit :P

Words are, I’ve heard, there’s a magician coming to town this Wednesday, Oct 8, 2008, and everybody is freaking out about it. Yes, seriously, a magician. Mr B Parker. It’s been going around that he holds great power, and great power brings an awesome time, for you! :D So come on out to Tolliver the TONK @7pm tomorrow and join us for a magical time (ok, that’s jeezy, but literally, there’s gonna be lotta magic going on). Remember to invite your friends, and friend, for those of us in engineering.

omg! omg! It’s monday! that’s today! That’s Fall Fling calling your name. Can’t hear?! well, get in the Centennial Plaza from 11am-3pm and you will. Union Board annual Fall Fling event is back, and bigger than ever. We got free food for lunch. We got Tie-Die shirts for you clothings. We got Defender Dome for your adrenaline rush. And this year, for the first time on campus, we bring Speed Pitch for your need for fast flying objects (ok, object, one ball at a time please…). And as usual, we also have the big, tall, vertically-challenge rock wall for your nature fans out there. See, lotta stuff for you to do in a 4 hours break during lunch ;) Come out and see us.

So, due to some technical issue, we couldnt announce this online any sooner. But here it is anyway, now better than never: Union Board annual Fall concert lineup is determined. Eve6 is coming to the Tech campus, and Barely Blind is opening the show for them. Sound exciting?! Of course it is. We’re super hype up about them. So we’ll be bugging you with more info from the show the closer we get to it.

In the mean time, mark down Thursday, October 30th, 2008 as “busy” please, ’cause that’s when the show starts. And did I mention it’s FREE?!! (for Tech student with valid ID of course). If you’re a non-student,  ticket will be on sale Monday, October 20th, 2008. You can find the ticket booth in front of Tolliver, or you’re brave enough, visit us in the Union Board office and we’ll personally welcome you with a extravaganza party there! Ok, maybe there won’t be a party, but we don’t bite either … promise ;)

No, no, i’m not asking if you’re old enough to drink. I’m talking about the movie, 21 (that’s twenty + one). Why am I blabbing about this?! ‘Cause Union Board is showing it that’s what. It’ll be in the Plaza (by Tolliver) this Tuesday, Sept 16, @7pm. You know what this mean right? Counting card lesson! In the public! With a bunch of people! ;]

On another note, if you haven’t known already, Union Board application is out and about. Apply online, or simply pick up a hard copy by the Student Activities desk in Tolliver. The due date is getting closer and closer as Thursday, Sept 18, 2008 approaching. Hurry! We want you! Yes we do :)

Yo yo, welcome back to an exciting Fall 08-09 quarter everybody, from the new freshmen to the seasonal seniors, and anybody in between. We love you here at Tech. No really, we do. That’s why Union Board has been working so hard to put up all these upcoming events to cater your mind and body. And by body, I meant food. Yes, nothing beats free food on college campus, you know that, we know that (note to freshmen: you’ll learn soon enough). Thus, that’s exactly what’s gonna happen this coming Monday (tomorrow as of this post).

Our annual Union Board Welcome Back, as you heard, has been moved from last Thursday to this Monday, Sept 08, 2008. We will start serving food and playing very loud music out in the Centennial Plaza from 10am-2pm, so you can’t miss it once you get on campus. Heck, you’ll hear about it once you get in your car and tune in  89.1FM KLPI. So, come out and join us when you get outta class. Bring a few friends, tell them to bring some more friends, and tell their friends to call people up and force some more to come. Yes, we’ll have enough food and drinks for y’all. And it’s all *echo* FREE! *echo*

Woot! The biggest dance party in Ruston is back, right here on campus, sponsored by our own Union Board. It’s time for you to get your dance shoes on (or skate shoes) and get ready for this last most exciting event of the quarter. We’ll have refreshment along with some sugary stuff to keep your blood pumping for the night. You DON’T want to miss this, even if you’re thinking about not going, YOU DONT WAN’T TO MISS THIS! The whole thing will kick off @8pm in the Lambright Intramural Center.
