The Physical Plant Director is Bruce Ayres, PE, CEM. Bruce is a 1974 graduate of Louisiana Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Bruce assumed the position of Physical Plant Director on August 1, 1999, after serving 16 years as the Power Plant Superintendent for Tech. Prior to coming to Tech, he was the Corporate Engineering Manager at Kast Metals Corporation, a jobbing steel foundry operation in Shreveport. Bruce's wife, Mary, is also a Tech graduate. Bruce and Mary have two children, Jonathan, a Tech graduate in Forestry, and Danielle, a graduate in Business Administration. Bruce is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Louisiana. He has also been certified by the Association of Energy Engineers as a Certified Energy Manager. In addition to these accomplishments, Bruce is a member of IEEE, AEE, and APPA. As Physical Plant Director, Bruce's primary goal is one of service to the University through the Physical Plant staff to maintain the buildings, grounds and vehicles, providing a comfortable, safe, and attractive environment for the faculty, staff, and students.
