Reasons NOT to Write a Grant

  1. Grants take time to write, and are a gamble.
  2. Grant funding is not provided quickly.
  3. Grants (if you get them) require a commitment of time and resources that may be better spent elsewhere

Reasons TO Write a Grant

  1. Grant funding can allow you to test an idea with less financial risk.
  2. Grant funding can strengthen your project by adding resources and collaborators.
  3. The information that you collect to write the grant may be useful to you regardless of whether or not you get funded.

The best grants fund projects that you would be likely to do with your own money.
