Provides low interest loans to persons who own, lease, or operate, or who seek to own, lease, or operate an agricultural product processing plant in this state. An eligible business must certify on its application that the reduced rate loan will be used exclusively to create jobs or preserve jobs and employment opportunities in the state. Eligible agricultural products processing businesses must be engaged in the processing or marketing of any agricultural, agronomic, horticultural, silvicultural, or aquacultural crop, or raw product derived therefrom, or any final derivative resulting from a combination or breakdown of raw farm materials. The program is dedicated to increasing the ability to process agricultural products within the state, thus exporting value added products as opposed to the export of raw agricultural products for further processing out-of-state. Processing and further processing within the state significantly contribute to the economic base and job potential within the state.

Loan and Loan Guarantee Program

This program’s purpose is to facilitate the processing, storage and marketing of farm products in Louisiana, encourage and assist in the construction, purchase, or improvements to agricultural facilities that process, store or market Louisiana farm products.
