 Lincoln Council on Aging

Lincoln Council on Aging provides services and recreational activities for people who are 60 years of age and older.

Services:

  • Advocacy service for senior citizens

  • Home maintenance tasks for elderly (Light Housekeeping)
  • Home Delivered Meals
  • Information & Referral (individual advice, counseling, referral and follow up)
  • Legal Assistance
  • Ombudsmen-Nursing Home Citizens
  • Residential Home Repair
  • Telephone Reassurance (through RSVP)
  • Transportation (To and from community facilities and resources)
  • Utility Assistance - Helping Hands & Lincoln Energy Trust - energy assistance programs for the elderly and handicapped)
Basic Skill & Training - support service that provides individual with opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills pertaining to their interests, needs and capabilities through either formal academic courses or informal methods.

Health Facilitation/Physical Fitness - Regular blood pressure checks, exercise, eye screening, Diabetic & Glaucoma tests, audio screening, food care, and lectures by physicians, nurses and other medical personnel.

Income Tax Assistance  (AARP during tax season - appointments required)

Nutrition Services (Congregate Meals) - Nutritionally balanced meals for persons 60 & over and their spouses, provided in a group setting. Meals are served five (5) days a week and must meet 1/3 RDA requirements. Diabetic meals are also available.

Recreation - leisure time, including group social activites such as arts, crafts, hobbies, travel games, sports, picnics and trips.
