USDA Rural Development
USDA Rural Development enhances
the ability of rural communities to develop, grow and to improve their
quality of life by targeting financial and technical resources in areas
of greatest need through activities of greatest potential.
Programs include:

loans and loan guarantees

Community
facility loans and grants

Telemedicine
and Telecommunications grants and loans

Value-Added
Producer Grants

Home
ownership loans and grants to provide rural residents with decent,
safe, and sanitary homes. Eligibility is based on adjusted
household income. Programs include:

Direct Loans: Loans are made to families or individuals who are without
adequate housing and who are unable to obtain loans from private
lenders at reasonable rates.

Guaranteed Loans: Loans are made to families or individuals that have
adequate and dependable income and do not currently own a home.
- Repair Loans and Grants: 504 Repair Loans are made for repairs to make
houses safe and to remove health hazards. Loan limit is $20,000,
maximum term for repayment is 20 years, with an interest rate of 1%. An
applicant must have a very low income to qualify for these loans. 504
Repair Grants are available to help very low-income elderly
homeowners (62 years of age or older) make necessary repairs to their
homes. The grant may not exceed $7,500 and are used to pay for only
that cost of the repairs that the applicant cannot afford on a 1% loan
schedule for repayment over 20 years.
