To modify this template:

Replacing the banner.gif file with your graphic will result in this graphic appearing on each page.

Pages in this template can have either two or three columns.  If you look at the village of Choudrant Louisiana's website you will see that most pages actually have three columns.  We used the third column for pictures of the community that represented the topic area.  To move the three column layout on the main page to an internal page that currently has two columns, you can simply save the index.html file with the name of the  file that you want it to copy to (i.e. schools.html)

Images in the third column, if you choose to add them, should be about 165px wide.  Height can vary.

To change the colors

The colors and fonts for this website are in a css file, style.css, not on the individual webpage.   Open this file up in Mozilla Composer to edit it.  You can search for and replace the existing color codes. The current colors are as follows:

  • light grey (background) = #CCCCCC
  • dark red (visited links) = #993300
  • black = #000000
  • light grey boxes (side links to other pages) and right hand column = #D2CCC5
  • Dark blue boxes (when curser is over box) = #003466
  • dark grey (left column color) = #686868
  • medium grey (color of current page's link box) =#A5AEB5
  • White = #FFFFFF

Tips for content on your homepage

You homepage should contain the most important and up-to-date information of the website. This design has a calendar of events on the right column. You can use it to post the latest events of your town or, alternatively, add an image (see the Village of Choudrant's website).

You should not, however, make the homepage extremely cluttered. Keep it to the point. And, if you want to go into detail, you can always link to your other pages in your website to provide more information.

Calendar of Events: (note: if you are not able to keep this absolutely current, do not put it on your main page, move it to an internal page)
