How to Add Minutes or Ordinances Using Mozilla Composer and Microsoft Word.

Microsoft Word has the capability of saving documents as web pages. This tutorial takes advantage of this feature and will describe how to add your minutes or ordinances to your website.

Assumptions

Adding Minutes or Ordinances

  1. Open the document (ordinance or minutes) that you want to add in your website on Microsoft Word.
  2. Click on the File menu and then click on Save As...

  1. On the "Save as File Type" drop-down box select Web Page (or Web Page Filtered if available). Find your website's folder and click on Save. If a warning box appears, disregard the message and click Yes.

Warning: If you save the HTML file outside your website's folder, the document will not be linked properly.

  1. Open the Mozilla Web Browser.
  2. On the Mozilla Web Browser window, click on the File menu and then click on Open File..

  1. Go to your website's folder and find the ordinance/minutes you created on step 3. Click on Open.

  1. Click on File and Edit Page.

  1. Publish the page by clicking on the Publish button (specify a different folder if needed).

  1. On the Mozilla Composer's window, click on the File Menu and the click Open File...
  2. Find the page where the minutes or ordinances are posted and click on Open. Alternatively, you can use your homepage (index.html or index.htm) to post the latest ones.
  3. Type the name of the new ordinance or minutes in the body of your webpage.
  4. Highlight the text you just typed and click on the Link button

  1. Click on Choose File...
  2. On your website's folder, select the ordinance or minutes you want to link and click Open.
  3. Click OK.

  1. If you have completed all the changes in you webpage, save your work and click on the publish button.
