The Tulane Green Wave football team has had to travel
hours upon hours to “home” games and for one they even had to travel further
than the visiting team.
They had their own “home”-coming at Tiger Stadium in

I know it is inevitable to be disappointed after a loss,
but having to drive 5 hours after a “home” loss having the time to actually
rethink every little thing you did wrong and what you could have done different
just makes it that much worse.
Thankfully, the team will not have to travel this weekend
as they make Joe Aillet their “home.”
Friday the Green Wave will be “hosting” the

Head coach Chris Scelfo said he
wanted “The Joe” packed for Friday’s game — and why shouldn’t it be?
You have donated clothes, canned goods, stuffed animals,
television sets and homes for the victims of Hurricane Katrina…why not three
hours of your time to watch a football game.
Tulane football has been kicked out of their home and has
been graciously welcomed into ours, but providing them with a home and paying
them no attention makes no sense.
We don’t have a home game that Saturday so there is no
way you could get sick of football. (Which I’m not sure is even possible, but anyhoo…)
So if you have ABSOLUTELY no plans—and even if you do,
you might consider rethinking them—go to the game.
It’s free, it’s football and
it’s the all-around right thing to do.
A few weeks ago, I happened to come across one of
Tulane’s fight songs and, to me, it epitomizes their situation and how they
have come to terms with it:
Here’s a song for the Olive and the Blue
Here’s a cheer for the team that’s tried and true,
Here’s a pledge of loyalty to thee,
Oh, Tulane Varsity,
Here’s to the Greenbacks that never will say die
And here’s to the hearts that are true,
To the men of Tulane, who are fighting for her name
For the Olive and the Blue.
Roll, Green Wave, roll them down the field!
Hold, Green Wave, that line must
never yield!
When those Greenbacks go charging thru the line,
They’re bound for Victory,
Hail Green Wave, for you we give a cheer.
Hail Green Wave, for you we have no fear,
So every man on every play,
And then we’ll win the game today,
Hurrah for Old Tulane.
So, please, if you could help the Tulane Green Wave by
coming to this “home” game…I am sure we could give them a true home field
advantage.
