Well, here are some of my favorite artists right now who have recently sneaked their way onto my play list.
Chagrin. When I first saw the Tech twosome play at a friend's house in May, I couldn't help but be impressed by Chris McPeters' amazing voice and John Patrick Adams' complicated guitar playing.
McPeters' voice control and ability to sing with so much passion, along with Adams' extraordinary talent on the guitar, make this duo unique from the other college bands.
Since last May the acoustic indie-rock pair has been playing frequently around Ruston.
Keep your ears open for word of their next show. Until then download a few songs at http://www.purevolume.com/chargin.
Matt Nathanson. I was a fan of Nathanson from the moment I saw him on stage when he opened for Howie Day last year, but it wasn't until last May when I fell hard for the folk-rock singer/songwriter
Nathanson's major label debut album, "Beneath These Fireworks," has since had a permanent place in my CD player.
"I Saw" and "Lucky Boy" are my top two picks from the album. "I Saw" is the typical ballad proclaiming love for someone who just doesn't love you back, while "Lucky Boy" is a sarcastic fast-paced song looking back on a relationship that went sour.
Nathanson has built a strong fan base with his ability to connect with his audience and onstage banter, not to mention the fact that he visits with every single fan after his shows.

Guster. This Boston trio has been pretty popular along the East Coast since the late 1990s, but my mini obsession with the acoustic-guitar-and-bongo-playing boys began this summer when I heard their live album "Guster on Ice."
Their fun, optimistic songs always have me singing at the top of my lungs and maybe even doing a little dance when no one's looking.
The band has toured with the likes of John Mayer and the Dave Matthews Band, so if talented acoustic guitar musicians are your thing, then I recommend you pick up a copy of one of their CDs.
My personal favorites, "Lost and Gone Forever," and "Guster on Ice" a DVD, CD combination can be found at http://www.guster.com along with tour dates and other information for a new-found-Guster fan.
Tyler Hilton. This 21-year-old has girls' hearts melting across America, and he's not that bad of a musician.
Songs about traveling and love are sure to attract a swarm of teenage girls looking for the next heart throb.
While he's been proclaimed the next John Mayer, Hilton distinguishes himself from other typical singer/songwriters with his mix of pop, folk and a splash of country music.
Hilton's debut album "When it Comes" is a good CD to pop in on a road trip with friends.
Hilton graced Tech's campus in April with the Virgin Mega Tour featuring Michelle Branch, so if you didn't catch him then, download some of his songs and see his new video at http://www.tylerhilton.com.
