The Student Government Association is actively pursuing
new ideas for this school year.
Caleb Smith, an SGA senator and a senior marketing major,
came up with the idea to get opinions from other senate members on new things
the SGA can improve at Tech.
“Senators involved in SGA, are leaders on campus and they
care about Tech,” Smith said.
He also said the senate came up with the idea to help
students learn the alma mater and the fight song.
“I look forward to promoting school spirit by reprinting
Tech spirit cards, creating T-shirts and finding other creative ways to teach
students the fight song and alma mater,” Smith said.
Lindsay Mencacci, SGA president
and a senior biology major, said she thinks it is awesome to hear new ideas
from the senate.
“All the ideas that were given at the meeting were
astounding,” Mencacci said. “Now the next step is to
go forth with the planning.”
Mencacci said the meeting was a
great brainstorming session.
“We don’t get the opportunity often to just sit and talk
about ideas,” Mencacci said. “We have to realize
these are just ideas and it will take hard work and dedication
to see some of these ideas develop.”
Mencacci said the brainstorming
meeting was something they have not done before.
“I think it is a great idea, being an SGA member, for
students to say what is on their mind,” Mencacci
said. “A lot of the time people have the wrong idea or don’t understand
something, so it gives me a chance to clarify what is going on and resolve some
of the rumors.”
The SGA says it is open to other suggestions. To voice an
opinion or a comment, e-mail the SGA at sga@latech.edu.
