Organizations to participate in Homecoming Parade at TAC
Tech's Homecoming parade, themed "Red, White and Blue Dawgs," is tonight at 6 starting at the Thomas Assembly Center.
The parade route will be: Tech Drive to Hergot Avenue, to Tolliver Hall, onto Railroad Avenue, then to Everett Street and onto Alabama Avenue. The parade will end back at the TAC.
The organizational floats in the parade will be judged at 3:30 p.m. by the spirit committee, which is a group of faculty members.
Some organizations participating in the parade include campus ministries, Greeks, SGA and the Bulldog Corps. The winning floats will be the first three floats in the parade line.

Talent Show to include singing, dancing, bagpipes tonight
Union Board will host the Talent Show at 8 p.m. tonight in the Student Center, Main Floor. The show is free to all.
Participants in the show are Tech students.
Eight different acts are slated to perform with talents ranging from singing and dancing to playing the bagpipes.
First prize is $500. Other prizes are yet to be announced.

Lincoln General to provide $75 mammograms during October
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Lincoln General Hospital, located at 401 East Vaughn St., will provide mammograms for $75 during the month of October. This includes the radiology fee.
The hospital will give out free T-shirts and shower cards with instructions on how to give breast self-examinations.
The hospital will also receive a Komen Foundation Grant of $125 covering the cost of the mammograms and the reading to women who have no insurance.

D.A.R.T to remember victims with candlelight vigil Tuesday
Lincoln Parish's Domestic Abuse Resistance Team will hold a candlelight vigil at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ruston Civic Center, located at 401 N. Trenton St.
Seventeen women and four children will be remembered at the service. As their names are called out, a candle will be lit and a bell rung.
Lincoln, Bienville, Claiborne, Union and Jackson Parishes are represented at the vigil.
Terrie Queen Autrey, co-founder of D.A.R.T., will tell victims' stories and Terry Nix, co-founder of D.A.R.T., will read a poem.
Ben Hurst, a senior music major, will provide music.
The Farmerville Dance Academy will perform an interpretive dance titled "You're Still Here," and a closing prayer will be led by Pastor Larry Emroy of Lighthouse Ministries.

Homecoming queen, top escort to be crowned at pep rally
The Homecoming pep rally is at 10 p.m. Friday in the Thomas Assembly Center.
Tech President Dr. Dan Reneau will crown the 2004 Homecoming queen and top escort.
This year's Homecoming theme is "Red, White, and Blue Dawgs." Sister Hazel will perform before the pep rally. Blessid Union of Souls will open for Sister Hazel.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. and is free for students with Tech IDs. The cost is $10 for non-students.

Residence halls to compete with Homecoming decorations
The department of residential life will sponsor a residence hall decoration competition during Homecoming Week.
Winners of the competition will receive a free pizza party from Domino's Pizza. Each residence hall is responsible for putting up Homecoming decorations.
Housing office staff will judge the decorations tomorrow. The residence hall that has the most decorations and the most participants will be the winner of the competition.
The housing office encourages all residents to participate.

Registration ends today for Top Dawg Business competition
The third annual Top Dawg Business Plan Announcement for the Association of Business, Engineering and Science has begun. Notices of intent are due tomorrow, and an executive summary will be due Oct. 29.
Each eight-person team must be made up of at least two undergraduate students and must be interdisciplinary.
Recent alumni and graduate students are eligible to participate. Faculty, ABESE and exclusive resources will provide support for the people who enter.
There is a $35 entry fee per team and $2,500 first prize.
Judging for the event will take place in January and February.

Student Health Center to hold Wellness Fair next Friday
Tech's 10th Annual Wellness Fair is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Student Center, Main Floor.
Booths will be available with health, fitness and nutritional information. Lincoln General Hospital will also provide various blood tests ranging in price from $20-$40.
Maxim Health will offer meningitis vaccines for $90.
Admission to this event is free and open to faculty, students and the general public. This event is sponsored by the Student Health Center.
