The Business Students Association has announced its new officers and agenda for the upcoming year.
The president is David Bacorn, a senior computer information system major; first vice president is Irene Mesak, a senior finance major; and second vice president is Bethany Michiels, a senior marketing major.
BSA treasurer is Lindsay Lawrence, a senior marketing major; secretary is Danielle Landry, a junior computer information system major; and chancellor is Sherry Lewis, a senior marketing major.
Shirley Reagan, dean of the College of Administration and Business and a professor of administration and business, said the BSA is not a club, but an organization with elected officers for all Tech business students.
Business students who were interested in an officer slot applied last spring and then were voted on by the BSA.
"[BSA] is a really important building block for the [College of Administration and Business] community," Reagan said.
"I am really impressed with the new elected officers and how they are taking care of things," Reagan said.
Bacorn said the BSA is designed to bring favorable recognition to the CAB within Tech, from the wider business world, local, state and national governments, alumni and prospective employers.
"Our faculty adviser and Dean Reagan want the BSA to become more of a liaison between students and faculty," Bacorn said.
The BSA is asking students who have complaints or concerns and teacher evaluations to e-mail them at bsamail@latech.edu.
"It's important to keep communication strong between both students and faculty to maintain a beneficial learning environment," Reagan said.
Landry is currently designing the new BSA T-shirts.
"We wanted to design a T-shirt to let business students know about the Business Students Association," Landry said.
Lawrence said they are selling them to increase student awareness of the business organization.
Bacon said, "The faculty needs a break every once in a while.
"It is also a way to show how much we appreciate what they have done for us."
