Free workout classes available for Intramural Center members

Group exercise classes are now available at the Maxie Lambright Intramural Sports Center.

Classes include flexibility, hip-hop dance, kickboxing, cardio and yoga.

All classes are 55 minutes long.

Classes are free and open only to students and members of the Intramural Center.

The Intramural Center is located on Tech Drive across from the Jim Mize Track and Field Complex.

Winter purge date, registration confirmation set for Nov. 19

The first purge date for winter schedules is 5 p.m. Monday.

Students who have TOPS, financial aid or loans and owe nothing must still log on to Bulldog Online Student System and confirm their schedule by this date.

When on B.O.S.S., students should look under "Student Records," click on "Account Summary/Payments," then choose Winter 2005 from the scroll bar to confirm or make payments.

If purged, students will have to complete the registration process again Nov. 20-30 before 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. is the second purge date.

The first day of classes is Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Spanish study abroad program in Costa Rica to meet Nov. 9

The informational meeting for the foreign language department's new study abroad program in Costa Rica is at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in George T. Madison Hall, Room 221.

The Costa Rican experience is a 27-day program, and the cost will be determined at the meeting.

Six hours can be earned toward any student's Spanish credit.

This program is only available to those who have completed Spanish 102 or the equivalent.

Those who attend will leave June 5 and return to America July 2.

Proceeds of poinsettia sale to benefit agricultural sciences

The Horticultural Society will host the Poinsettia Auction and Show on Dec. 1 in the Lomax Hall Auditorium.

The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the auction will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Approximately 30 of this year's premium red, white and pink poinsettias, Christmas cacti and chrysanthemums will be auctioned.

Regular sales will begin Dec. 2.

Proceeds will benefit the Agricultural Sciences Scholarship Fund.

Study skills class worth one credit hour available in winter

A study skills course will be offered the first two Tuesdays during winter quarter in Bogard Hall, Room 319.

Dr. Gary Zumwalt, an associate professor of geosciences, is teaching the course. The course is designed for students who may not have confidence in their study method.

The course, which is worth one credit hour, can be found in The Racing Form under University Seminar. It is listed as Study Skills, UNIV 289A, call number 22091.

After the students attend the two class meetings, they will be graded on participation or application of the study method to another class they are taking.

All students able to apply for SGA Memorial Scholarship

Student Government Association is now accepting applications for its Memorial Scholarship to be awarded in the spring.

The amount of the scholarship depends on the donations received.

A memorial service is held each spring for Tech students who have passed away during their time at Tech. The date of this year's service will be posted at a later date.

This year's scholarships will honor any Tech student who has passed away since last May. The complete list will be available in April. To apply for these scholarships, visit http://latech/edu/orgs/sga, and click "Download Memorial Scholarship Application."

Any Tech student is able to apply.

If interested in donating to the scholarship fund, contact Laura Ashby, director of academic affairs and a senior photography major, in the SGA office at 257-4565.

Post-Halloween costume bash tomorrow night at the Wesley

The Wesley Foundation will hold a Post-Halloween Party at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Wesley Foundation, located at 201 College St.

The cost is $3. Everyone is invited to attend and is welcome to wear a Halloween costume.

The Wesley will have a costume contest, and the winners will be declared at the party. Refreshments will be served.

Six-week alcohol, drug course for students starts Tuesday

Double Vision, an alcohol and drug education program, will meet from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Keeny Hall, Room 310.

The program is aimed at changing students' perspectives regarding alcohol use and abuse.

Sessions will meet for one hour weekly on Tuesdays for six weeks.

All students are invited to attend at no cost, but students should meet individually with a counselor for assessment first.

Group or individual sessions are available.
