First winter purge date Nov. 19; second purge date Nov. 30

The first purge date for winter schedules is 5 p.m. Nov. 19.

Students who have TOPS, financial aid or loans and owe nothing must still log on to the Bulldog Online Student System and confirm their schedule by this date.

When on B.O.S.S., students should look under "Student Records," click on "Account Summary/Payments," then choose Winter 2005 from the scroll bar to confirm or make payments.

If purged, students will have to complete the registration process again before 6 p.m. Nov. 20-30.

The second purge date is 6 p.m. Nov. 30.

The first day of classes is Dec. 1.

SGA not accepting scholarship applications until next April

In the Nov. 4 issue of The Tech Talk, it was incorrectly reported that applications for the SGA's annual memorial scholarship are now being accepted, which is false.

Applications are not being accepted until April, when the list of students who will be honored by the memorial scholarships is in.

Campus facilities to shut down for upcoming break Nov. 20

The residence halls will close for quarter break at noon Nov. 20.

Students are able to stay in the halls during quarter break by signing up for quarter break housing before the break at the housing office.

The halls will stay closed for nine days, and the fee to stay in residence halls during the break is $90 for those who register before 4 p.m. Nov. 18.

A $20 late fee will be applied to those who register after 4 p.m. Nov. 18.

Food services will close after the night meal Nov. 19.

Residence halls will re-open at 1 p.m. Nov. 28.

Food services will re-open at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 29.

Equestrian Club to raffle mini donkey at horse show Nov. 27

The Equestrian Club is selling raffle tickets until Nov. 27 to benefit the Equine Center.

The winner will be announced during the Tennessee Walking Horse Show at 2 p.m. Nov. 27 at the Ruston Expo Center.

Raffle tickets are $2, with the bargain of three tickets for $5.

The winner of the raffle will receive a miniature donkey and will also be informed about the fundamentals of caring for it.

Students can enjoy jazz music tomorrow while eating lunch

Tech's Jazz Ensemble will host their Fall Jazz Lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Student Center, Main Floor.

All students are invited to enjoy their lunch while listening to the ensemble. This will be an opportunity for students to take a break from finals.

The ensemble will play contemporary big-band music, as well as rock and funk music. Some of the members will also perform solos.

Graduating students to gather at TAC for Nov. 20 ceremony

Fall Commencement 2004 is scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Thomas Assembly Center.

Graduating students should be at their designated college area by 12:45 p.m.

Each college will assemble prior to the ceremony at designated areas in lines one and two in the TAC.

Line one includes the College of Administration and Business and will meet at the south entrance to the TAC playing floor. The College of Applied and Natural Sciences will meet in Room 168, and the College of Education will meet in Room 102.

Line two includes the Graduate School and will meet in Room 102. The College of Engineering and Science and the College of Liberal Arts will meet in Room 110.

Graduates should wear caps and gowns, men should wear white shirts and ties, and women should wear blouses that do not come above gown neckline.

Part-time employment available to students with computer skills

The Center for Rural Development has five temporary student worker openings for Web site designers and project assistants from Nov. 15-March 30.

These jobs will not all be on campus and may require some travel.

Applicants need strong Web design skills, good writing skills, attention to detail and good communication skills.

The salary is $7 per hour. Workers will have 15-20 hours per week; times are negotiable. Applicants are asked to send a brief description of experience, a sample Web site designed or maintained, contact information for applicant and one reference.

Hiring will begin immediately.

Gay, Straight Alliance meeting to be held Dec. 1 in Tolliver Hall

A Gay and Straight Alliance meeting will be held Dec. 1 in the Multicultural Lounge in Tolliver Hall.

The meeting will provide information and support to students who are gay or may have friends or family members who are gay. It is also for students who may be interested in getting involved with the organization.

All interested students are invited to attend and get to know more about the organization.
