Planetarium to show holiday program beginning Saturday

Tech's Planetarium, adjacent to A.E. Phillips Laboratory School, is presenting its tenth annual Christmas program "Story of the Star."

Showings begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and run every evening through Dec. 23.

There is an additional presentation at 1 p.m on Saturdays.

The shows will provide a scientific explanation for the possible existence of the star of Bethlehem.

Admission is free for students with a valid Tech ID and $2 for adults and children.

Winter refund checks available for electronic deposit tomorrow

Refund checks for students with electronic deposit are scheduled to be in tomorrow.

Those who do not have electronic deposit can pick up their refunds Monday in the Cashier's Office, located in Keeny Hall, Room 103.

Students interested in applying for electronic deposit may log onto the Bulldog Online Student System and select "electronic deposit of refunds/student payroll" on the Student Services menu, then follow the instructions to complete the Electronic Deposit Authorization form.

A bank routing number and account number are required for the transaction.

LifeShare blood drive continues today in Tolliver Hall until 4 p.m.

LifeShare Blood Center will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today in Tolliver Hall.

Any student wishing to donate can go to Tolliver and fill out a donation application.

Students are advised to eat a meal before giving blood.

After donating, students may choose between a free t-shirt, cap or cholesterol screening and will also be given a free drink and snack.

Donations will be sent to area hospitals.

Campus group to seek official club status in second meeting

The Gay and Straight Alliance Group will hold its second meeting Wednesday.

Those at the meeting will discuss the guidelines for becoming a recognized group on campus.

After Christmas break, the group will also look at how to reach out and promote awareness on campus.

Anyone who is interested in getting involved with the organization is invited to attend.

FAFSA applications available online Jan. 1 on Tech Web site

Applications for Federal Student Aid for the 2005-06 award year will be available online Jan. 1.

Applications can be found on the financial aid Web site at http://www.latech.edu/finaid.

Applications may also be submitted on the site.

Students should collect the necessary tax information before filling out the application.

Hours for library will change during campus holiday break

Prescott Memorial Library will be closed Dec. 18 for the holiday break. It will re-open Dec. 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It will close again Dec. 23 and re-open Dec. 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library will close again Dec. 30.

It will re-open Jan. 2 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will resume regular hours Jan. 3.

Residence halls, food services to close Dec. 17, re-open Jan. 2

Classes will end for holiday break Dec. 17, and all residents must be out of the residence halls by 7 p.m.

Food services will also close after the night meal at 6 p.m.

Students who must stay in their residence halls over the break should see their resident assistant or contact Sam Speed, director of residential life, in the Housing Office at 257-4917 for information about possible fee charges.

Residence Halls will re-open Jan. 2 at 1 p.m.

Food services will be offered beginning at 4 p.m.

Classes will resume Jan. 3 at 8 a.m.

No classes will be held Jan. 17 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, but residence halls and food services will remain open.

Wesley Foundation to gather for Christmas formal tomorrow

The Wesley Foundation will hold a Christmas formal with a James Bond theme at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the main room of their facility, located across from the College of Administration and Business at 201 College St. Admission is free for all students and their dates.

Free food and beverages will also be provided.

Students can volunteer to help decorate for the formal tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Formal attire, such as dresses for women and suits or tuxedos for men, is suggested.
