For a group of 20 seniors, the first day of winter
quarter signified the culmination of a tireless undergraduate experience, as
the students were honored by the Student Government Association with the Who’s
Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges Award.
The recipients of Tech’s 2005-2006 Who’s Who were
announced the first day of winter classes.
Lindsey Mencacci, SGA president and a senior biology
major, said the application process, which is done through the SGA, is based on
students’ GPA, community service, organizational involvement and talents.
“The selection process is based on everything,” she said.
“It includes anything a student can be involved in on campus.”
Jacquelyn Adcock, a Who’s Who recipient and a senior
biology major, said she is happy about the recognition, which she deems an
honor.
“I see it as a great honor because students are chosen
from all over the nation,” Adcock said. “And I feel honored to be one of the
ones to be chosen from Tech,” Adcock said.
Mencacci said a private reception for the recipients is
scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 11 in the Waggonner Room of the Thomas Assembly
Center.
