The Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. today in the Marbury Alumni Center, located on Tech Drive.
Who's Who is an annual award given to outstanding campus leaders for their scholastic ability, participation and leadership in academic and extra curricular activities and community service.
Requirements for this award are: student must be a graduating senior, have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA and be involved in extracurricular activities around campus.
Laura Ashby, SGA director of academic affairs and a junior photography major, said this award is different from other universities.
"[Recipients] are the top 18 people in the senior class out of the 50 that applied," Ashby said. "[Tech] makes it a little bit more honoring by only picking a certain few."
The two students with the most points are called the Tech Elite.
Recipients are awarded certificates and the option of having their name published in the annual "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges" book. Tech elite recipients are awarded plaques.
This year's Tech Elite are Jennifer Porter, SGA president and a senior marketing major, and Reagan Sims, a senior marketing major.
Porter said this award shows all of her hard work has paid off over the past four years.
"To be selected for Who's Who means you are the cream of the crop," Porter said. "It's an honor to know you stand at the top of your class."
