Things stir up every other Friday night at the Wesley Foundation.
Chagrin, Jenny Lee Guthrie and Tyler Read rocked the Wesley's Stir Jan. 14.
"We really enjoyed hosting [the bands] last Friday night," Amanda Hood, an intern for the Wesley, said.
Hood said the Wesley holds events such as Open Mic night and hosts bands at the Stir every other Friday; they also have free regular coffee.
"[Our setting] leaves room for any kind of interaction," Hood said.
Hood said she enjoyed getting to meet the band members and hang out with them.
"Before they went on stage we all prayed together," Hood said. "They are amazing guys who really love Jesus."
Hood said most of the band members of Chagrin have either attended or are still enrolled at Tech.
"Chagrin started at Tech," Chris McPeters, a guitar player and vocalist for Chagrin and a senior graphic design major, said.
McPeters; John Adams on guitar, keyboard and vocals and a junior photography major; Justin Martin on drums and a senior graphic design major; and Andrew McPeters make up Chagrin.
Chris McPeters said he and Adams started playing together in junior high.
"I write 90 per cent of the lyrics for Chagrin," Chris McPeters said. "Our first album is about life experiences and the stages of being in a relationship."
Chris McPeters said his band's second album is still in progress. So far the album is a skeleton for a love story.
"I have never been nervous until we played at the Wesley," McPeters said.
"It gave me chills."
He was nervous because all of his friends were at the Wesley to watch them play.
Some of the audience broke out some of their ballroom dancing moves.
"It is great to see them dancing," Chris McPeters said.
"As long as they are enjoying it."
Mouthing the words to a Chagrin song across the room was Tim Smith, friend of Chagrin and a senior business marketing major.
"I like everything about [Chagrin]," Smith said. "Their sound is so unique."
"They sound somewhat similar to Silverchair," Smith said.
Smith said he has been friends with Chris McPeters for four years and friends with Adams for three years.
"Their harmonies and melodies blend well together," Smith said.
Allison Fuller, a sophomore speech communications major, said she enjoyed Chagrin and Tyler Read.
"The bands are really awesome," Fuller said. "Each of them have a good energy that really gets me and the crowd moving."
She did not waste any time to do a jig in her seat to the beat of Chagrin, Fuller said.
"I need to get one of those [albums] that they are selling in the other room."
