From greeting in Admissions to answering phones in the Dean's Office, campus jobs are the ones to have.

Students at Tech spend their time and a lot of energy working on various administrative tasks in offices throughout campus.

Bryce Faulkner, a student worker in the Admissions Office and a freshmen biomedical engineering major, said he took his job to get a grip on what the school was like.

"I like working at Admissions because it's close to the dorms where I live," Faulkner said.

Emily Doan, a student worker in Counseling Services and a junior secondary English education major, said, "I kind of inherited this job from my roommate.

"It is the best job I could have."

Student positions are available all through campus to those who apply whether you want to work in the College of Administration and Business or for the Foreign Language Department.

"I like working in here because they have flexible hours which work around my school schedule," Jessica Robinson, student worker for a dean's office in the College of Administration and Business and a senior computer information systems major, said.

Student jobs help students to learn office dynamics and other key interpersonal relationships that may arise, Robinson said.

"It allows you to learn how to work with different kinds of people," Robinson said.

Working campus jobs can give necessary skills to the worker to improve their interpersonal skills, Faulkner said.

"It's helped me a lot with my people skills, it made it a hundred times easier for me to talk to people," Faulkner said.

Student workers have the distinct privilege to work with the general campus and to talk with a lot of people, Robinson said.

"A lot of students come in and out of the office and conversations are always going on between the students, faculty and other visitors," Robinson said.

Student workers are minimum wage employees throughout campus.

Bob Vento, univeristy registrar, said the Registrar's Office has three different types of student workers: work study from Financial Aid, Veteran's Administration work study and a limited amount of student workers that come from the operational budget.

Student workers are needed on campus to facilitate campus operations and let the staff focus on the more important issues.

Vento said, "There are a lot of administrative tasks that students take care of that help the staff concentrate on the primary mission, student service."
