Career Center to hold seminar to improve interviewing skills
The Career Center will hold a seminar on job interviews at 3 p.m. today in Keeny Hall, Room 337.
The seminar, "The Successful Interview," will discuss the necessary skills and tools needed for a job interview.
It will also teach students how to prepare for interviews, what to take along for an interview and the behavioral conduct and courtesy used at interviews.
The meeting is one of the series of events planned by the Career Center for the upcoming Career Day, held Feb. 12 in the Student Center, Main Floor.

Center offers two-day workshop to help with job opportunities
The Counseling Center will hold a two-part career decision-making workshop from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in Keeny Hall, Room 310.
The workshop will offer an opportunity for self-assessment in areas of skills and abilities, work interest, temperament and work-related values.
All students are welcome to attend the workshop.

Financial aid applications now available online for renewal
Students seeking financial aid for the 2004-05 school year can now reapply online at http://www.latech.edu/finaid.
Though the priority deadline is April 15, it is best to apply early to ensure full consideration for different types of aid from limited funding through on-campus agencies.
It is also possible to apply by going to the Division of Student Financial Aid office, located in Keeny Hall, Room 240.

Russian trio to perform concert in Howard Auditorium Tuesday
The Trio Voronezh, a Russian ensemble, will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Howard Auditorium, Center for the Performing Arts.
The trio consists of Vladimir Volokhin, Sergei Teleshev and Valerie Petrukhin. The members of the trio were classically trained at the School of Music and Performing Art in Voronezh, Russia, the city they still call home.
Performances will include works by Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Gershwin, among others.
The performance is sponsored by the Louisiana Tech Concert Association.
The Howard Auditorium Box Office is open from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets are $7 for children, $15 for adults and $3 for students with a valid Tech ID.

Student organization sponsors volleyball tournament tomorrow
Calling all student organizations: Sign up for the International Student Association volleyball tournament.
The tournament will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Maxie Lambright Intramural Sports Center.
Sign-up costs are $10, and registration will end at 5 p.m. today.
Student organizations can sign up by e-mail at ISO@latech.edu.
Refreshments will be offered and trophies awarded at the end of the tournament.
All proceeds go to the ISA.
Students can stop by the Intramural Center and watch the action as organizations compete in the tournament.
Admission is free for students.

Video karaoke gives students chance to showcase talents
The Union Board has a new event for students who love performing in front of their peers.
From 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Student Center, Main Floor, students will have the opportunity to sing karaoke to their favorite songs at Starflix Interactive Video. They will be taped in front of an interactive green screen with props and given a free tape of their performance.
The event is free to all students.

Deposit due for annual ski trip, sign-up deadline approaches
Tech's 31st annual ski trip will be held March 3 through 9 in Winter Park, Colo.
The trip will be transported by a chartered bus, including a one-night stay in Amarillo, Texas.
The total cost of the trip is $595. The trip includes nine meals and four nights lodging at Winter Park Mountain Lodge in Winter Park, Colo.
Students and alumni are invited to attend.
A $100 deposit must be paid by Feb. 2.
Sign-up for the trip is located in the Marbury Alumni Center, located on Tech Drive.

Gallery presents free exhibition from selected group of artists
The Tamarind Group is on exhibition in the E.J. Bellocq Art Gallery, located in the Visual Arts Center.
The group is made up of selected working artists who attended the Tamarind Institute's summer workshop in 2002 in Albuquerque, N.M.
Artists featured are Sarah Amos, Kristin Casaletto, Teresa Cole, Robert Dickson, Peter Kilian, Colleen Cox, Rafael Munita and Alfredo Rivera.
The display, held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., began Jan. 13 and will continue through Feb. 6 on weekdays.
Admission to the gallery is free. Students and the public are invited.
