If you are a fan of Ben Stiller roles in movies like "There's Something About Mary" then you will love "Along Came Polly."
Once again Stiller plays the loveable guy who gets hurt by the person he thinks he's meant to be with. Then along comes another girl who is nothing like he wants but turns out to be the one he falls for all while dealing with sticky situations and funny misunderstandings.
The storyline has Stiller playing Reuben Feffer, a risk analyst for an insurance business who is happy because his plan for life is going according to schedule. Then his life is thrown off when his bride, played by Debra Messing, dumps him on their honeymoon for a scuba instructor.
Upset and stunned, Reuben starts to play everything safer than ever. To cheer him up his best friend and former child star Sandy Lyle, played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, takes Reuben out for a night on the town. The two end up running into a former classmate, Polly Prince, played by Jennifer Aniston, who is a waitress who specializes in the art of refilling white wine drinkers' glasses with red wine.
This encounter gets Reuben to start thinking about how his life is going and what he actually wants out of it.
Reuben asks Polly on a date, and his life gets flipped upside down when Polly gives him an experiences he has never had in life and never will forget, including spicy foods, ferrets, salsa dancing and extreme sports.
True, this movie was hilarious, but it follows the same routine as every other romantic movie. It isn't very hard to guess what happens next.
The surprise of the movie is that Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston actually work well on the screen together. This movie shows a different side of Aniston, who displays her weird, unpredictable and loveable side.
If you enjoy the same old jokes and romantic comedy with just a little potty humor, this movie is for you. It is funny and original, so it would be a cute movie to take a girl to on the first date.
