A test preparation seminar for the Graduate Record Examination will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Davison Hall, Room 105.
Anyone who wants to enter graduate school must take the GRE.
The cost for the single-session preparation is $50. The deadline for registration and payments is today. Payments can be made at Davison Hall, Room 110 or via telephone at 257-4433.
Instructor Joni Maxwell will cover topics including test awareness, test specifications and analytical questions.
Also covered will be verbal questions, quantitative questions, math and other question practice.

Center to explore job decisions with annual Career Day event
The Career Center will sponsor Spring Career Day 2004 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 12 in the Student Center, Main Floor.
Career Day is open to sophomores, juniors, seniors, graduate students and alumni.
Students can explore opportunities for an internship, a cooperative and summer or full-time positions. There are currently 51 participating employers.
Students must register by 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Career Center, located in Keeny Hall, Room 337.

Spring quarter advising to begin Monday for early registration
Advising, early Web registration, early schedule adjustment and early fee payment will begin Monday and continue through March 3 for students enrolled this quarter.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on the following days: Tuesday for seniors, Thursday for juniors, Feb. 16 for sophomores and Feb. 18 for freshmen.
Available course sections and the Portable Document Format version of the Racing Form are available on B.O.S.S., the Bulldog Online Student System.
Paper copies of the Racing Form are also available in the stands on the second floor of Keeny Hall.

Bands to perform free concerts Saturday and Sunday in Howard
The Louisiana Tech Symphonic Band and the Ark-La-Tex Honor Bands will perform three concerts Saturday and Sunday in Howard Auditorium, Center for the Performing Arts.
The Tech Symphonic Band will perform at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Ark-La-Tex Honor Bands will perform two concerts, one by the wind ensemble at 2 p.m. Sunday, and the concert band will follow.
Admission is free and everyone is invited to attend.
The Ark-La-Tex Honor Bands consist of outstanding instrumental students from high schools in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.

Society to sponsor fund-raisers for needy children and teens
Gamma Beta Phi, a national honor society, will sponsor three service drives for Ruston children.
The society will hold a month-long book, clothing and school supply drive for new and used items.
Contributions can be made between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in Carson-Taylor Hall, Room 116.
Members will receive points for their contributions. Students are encouraged to donate to the needy children and teenagers.

Theatre to present performance of adaptation of classical play
Six characters are seeking a new way for someone to finish their story.
Beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Feb. 14 and Feb. 18-21, Stone Theatre, located in Howard Auditorium, Center for the Performing Arts, will house a run of "Six Characters in Search of an Author."
The play is adapted from a classic of the same name by Luigi Pirandello and is directed by Scott Gilbert, an instructor of speech and theatre.
The story is about a group of unfinished fictional characters interrupting a group of rehearsing actors. A play within a play then begins, drawing the actors into a confused family conflict.

Religious organization to host local Christian band tomorrow
The Wesley Foundation, located at 201 College St., will host The Stir at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
A local Christian band, Matt and Alli, will open for Dressed for Autumn, a Christian band from the Dallas area.
The cost is $5 per person. Anyone who wishes to attend can purchase tickets at the door. The concert should last until midnight.
The Stir is centered in the coffee house inside the Wesley, where people can buy drinks and snacks. Although The Stir usually hosts bands, it sometimes has poetry readings or open mic nights.

Association offers home-cooked dollar lunch every Wednesday
Craving a hot home-cooked meal?
The Association of Catholic Tech Students holds its dollar lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. every Wednesday at the Catholic Student Center, located at 600 Thornton St.
The fee is $1 for students and $2 for non-students.
The menu changes weekly. Past meals have included spaghetti and chili.
ACTS is based out of St. Aquinas Catholic Church, also located at 600 Thornton St.
