Student Government Association President Jennifer Porter is working out the kinks in the new hours and new equipment in the Maxie Lambright Intramural Sports Center.
Porter, a senior marketing major, took an informal poll during Tuesday's SGA meeting pertaining to the new hours in the Intramural Center.
The majority vote was to change the hours from 7 a.m. until midnight to 6:15 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.
Porter said this is not a definite change but something that needs to be discussed.
"[The proposed new hours] allow students the ability to work out before their 8 a.m. class or job if they want to, but we will be asking them to leave the center at 11:30 p.m. instead of midnight," Porter said.
These longer hours have affected the student workers' schedules, but Porter said these hours bring at least two more job opportunities.
Porter plans to discuss these results with Ronnie Wiggins, director of the Intramural Center, in order to better serve the students during spring quarter.
Porter also said discussion of a small, additional student fee could come about in the future. Currently, the Intramural Center's budget cannot afford to replace any of the new machines in case of malfunction or damage.
"These [new machines] were not created to be used 17 hours a day, but they are being used that way," Porter said. "[This fee] would help maintain the new equipment and possibly help provide upgrades if need be."
