Free food, games and entertainment were the cherry on top of a fun-filled night in the Bulldog Kennel Feb. 2.

Union Board hosted Kennel Night for all Tech students.

"I like to play pool but I don't usually have the extra money, but tonight, it's free," Nichole White, a freshman accounting major, said.

And the pool entertainment was free too, with trick-shot artist Jack White.

Over 50 students were gathered around White's pool table as he challenged Tech students one by one.

The veteran pool player held back no comment to distract his opponents.

Jack White made comments such as "The psych is in effect," and "If I lose this game, everybody here will receive a car, a house and something you never got before, an A."

Just so everyone in the kennel could hear White, the Union Board also provided a lapel microphone to his suit and tie.

"It was an honor [to play with White]," Benjamin Brown, a senior history major.

Brown played White and lost only by the final shot of the game -- the 8 ball.

"I have never played someone so good before. I don't mind losing, which I normally don't, if it's to him."

White travels around the country visiting college campuses to show them his famous shots.

"I would never try to play [White], he would embarrass me because I can't play," Nichole White said.

Yet, White has not limited his performances to colleges.

He has also shown off his shooting talent at the White House and Buckingham Palace.

The self-proclaimed "World's Greatest Billiards Player" was not the only attraction at this Kennel Night.

Bowling was also an attraction free of charge to those who attended Kennel Night.

With all the lanes full, bowling seemed to be a hit among students who attended.

The different varieties of ice cream which were quickly devoured along with the chicken and sausage gumbo, was also a success.

For whatever reason students decided to come to Union Board's Kennel Night, either for gumbo and ice cream, a greater knowledge of pool, to see friends or to wear bowling shoes, the Kennel was packed.

Monique Gray, a freshman studio art major, said, "I'm so excited to be here tonight.

"It gives me a chance to get out of my room."
