The Tech baseball team struggled to find offense and was plagued by errors all weekend, as the Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the Bulldogs in three straight contests at Baum Stadium.

On the weekend, the Bulldogs (2-4) belted 22 hits but recorded only four runs while committing 12 errors and giving up 37 runs, 16 of which were unearned runs.

In Sunday's 13-2 loss to the Razorbacks, Chris Herron (0-1) picked up the loss and pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and six runs (five earned) in his first career start for the Bulldogs.

Arkansas (3-0) scored three runs in the second, third and fourth innings before adding four in the bottom of the eighth, while the Bulldogs provided very little offense to match the Razorbacks firepower.

Tech scored its two runs in the third inning. Back-to-back doubles by Antonio Sabatini and Jeff Walker scored one run. Then, Walker came around to score later in the inning on a fielder's choice by Stephen Winters.

Freshman Blake Burns pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed three runs along with two hits.

Burns also walked five men in his second outing of the season while striking out two. Dustin Griggs pitched the final three innings for Tech, allowing four runs on four hits.

Saturday's contest proved to be a very long day for Tech, as the Razorbacks pounded the Bulldogs mercilessly by a score of 22-2.

Arkansas scored in all but one inning as the Razorbacks posted 19 hits off five Tech pitchers, and 11 of Arkansas' 22 runs were unearned, largely in part to seven Bulldog' errors.

Mitch Tucker (0-1) started the game and suffered the loss after giving up eight runs in three innings with four walks. Ricky Guillot, Brady Bascle, Brad Chedister and Josh Miller also pitched in the game for the Bulldogs, but no one had a good outing on this day.

Tech's first run came in the fourth inning when Ben Tabor singled in Brandon Haygood to cut the Arkansas lead to 7-1. The only other Bulldog run was scored in the ninth inning when back-to-back doubles by Tabor and Walker brought home Tech's second run of the game.

And the game which started the grueling weekend featured a 2-0 shutout by Arkansas Friday night.

The Bulldogs best scoring opportunities came in the seventh and eighth innings when Tech had runners in scoring position but could not get a two-out hit to score a run.

Arkansas scored the only two runs of the game in the third inning with two runs on a two-run home run by Matt Fry.

That scored Kern Watts, who reached on an error earlier in the inning.

Clayton Meyer (0-1) had a solid outing for the Bulldogs, throwing 6 1/3 innings while allowing just two runs with two strikeouts and two walks.

Freshman Brody Love relieved Meyer in the seventh inning and pitched the final 1 2/3 innings allowing just one hit and struck out two.
