Enticing mesquite aromas lingering outside Log Cabin are only a small preview of the alluring bounty that waits inside.

One room of the nineteenth century log cabin still stands in the main dining room of the restaurant, and on the opposite side customers can take in the lodge-like atmosphere of a Santa Fe getaway.

Katie Foster, a graduate student of history, has been a part of the Log Cabin family for four years now. She said, “There is something for everyone here, even the pickiest eater can find something they will like.”

For 16 years Log Cabin has made its mark at 1906 Farmerville Highway as a premier dining establishment boasting great dishes such as the hand-cut 14-ounce ribeye and a jumbo butterfly shrimp platter.

Here they make everything from scratch including the potato salad, pico de gallo, and marinades, but for a college student on a budget it is the Tex-Mex quesadillas calling your name.

The fajita quesadillas are some of the best in town. They offer traditional beef or chicken, shrimp and a veggie combination fused together with cheese, green onions, and tomatoes. All these elements are folded up into a golden brown tortilla.

If quesadillas aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other choices including the stuffed spud with the option to add smoked or fajita meat and shrimp, or the tortilla shell taco salad.

If you’re too hungry to wait on your food or not hungry enough to order a platter, you can’t go wrong with one Log Cabin’s 11 different appetizers. From southwest egg rolls to their new spinach & artichoke dip, it is easy to find a delicious starter in a snap.

For students with a sweet tooth, Log Cabin offers an array of pies and cheesecakes, but the exploding brownie covered with caramel, hot fudge and vanilla ice cream takes the cake.

Log Cabin not only offers specialty chow to Bulldogs but also spacious seating and accommodations for large groups.

Chris “Moose” Garriga, owner, said, “Working in the restaurant business I have learned you are only as good as your staff.” The team at Log Cabin is eager to greet fellow Tech students with a smile and a bright blue T-shirt on game days.

The rustic cabin is quite the hot spot to bring your parents after a Saturday game or if they are just in town visiting for the weekend. The next time you need a place to just kick back and watch the playoffs, try Log Cabin’s bar, where you are sure to fall in love with their margaritas or a nice merlot.
