Spring Fling, an annual event hosted by the Union Board, promises to be a fun event, Jeff Dubea, vice president of Union Board and a senior computer information systems major, said.
Spring Fling will kick off at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Centennial Plaza.
"I have been there the past 3 years, and it is one of my favorite events," Dubea said.
He also said he hopes the weather is good because for the past three years it has been perfect.
Barry Morales, director of student development, Union Board and KLPI, said he cannot remember the exact date of when Spring Fling started, but he said it has been going on for at least 25 years.
"I remember when it was at the SGA fields, but we moved to be more centrally located," Morales said.
Throughout the day, students can enjoy climbing the rock wall, jousting, jumping on a trampoline and riding in the gyroscope, Dubea said.
Following with the cowboy theme of this year's Spring Fling, students can ride a mechanical bull and T-shirts will be sold for $10.
If acting like a kid again is not what students want to do, they can check out Honey Tongue, a Seattle based band and buy a $5 crawfish plate.
Jennifer Barker, a freshman biological engineering major, said she will attend Spring Fling this year.
"It will be great to get outside and eat crawfish," Barker said.
She also said she thinks it will give students a chance to meet new people and chat with friends.
"I love how Tech finds ways to help students socialize and take a break from studying," Barker said.
Jarred Young, a sophomore electrical engineering major, said he did not go last year, but he plans on going this year.
"It would be nice to go, but I don't know what I have on my schedule for that day," Young said.
Young said he is glad it is free because "college students are cheap."
Although Young said he has not attended many Union Board events, he said he likes that they are putting on events for the students.
Dubea said he thinks it will be a time for all students to enjoy and have some fun.
