Vic Henley, a stand-up comedian from Oxford, Ala., had students laughing for more than an hour March 23 in the Student Center, Main Floor.
Ian Richards, special events coordinator for Union Board and a junior marketing major, said when he went to the National Association for Campus Activities in October, he noticed Henley.
"We asked him to come to Tech because he is really funny, and he always kept the audience laughing," Richards said. "He was amazing at NACA, and he was amazing tonight."
Henley has been a comedian for the last 19 years and has appeared on the "Late Show with David Letterman" and Comedy Central.
Henley said he has been traveling in the South for the past couple of weeks doing stand-up at colleges and comedy clubs.
His jokes about different colleges he has traveled to had students laughing and hollering in their seats.
David Rickman, a sophomore mechanical engineering major, said he thought Henley was entertaining.
"I enjoyed the show a lot, and I would see him again if I had the chance," Rickman said.
Henley told a joke about bombing Graceland. He said that if America would have bombed Graceland and blamed it on the Iraqis, then thousands of "good ol' boys from Tennessee would sail across the ocean in bass boats."
Rickman said the Graceland joke was one of his favorites of the night.
"I thought it was funny and creative," Rickman said.
When Henley was not poking fun at the president of the United States, he was teasing the audience about Monroe and West Monroe.
"Is Monroe that big that they need a wall to separate it?" Henley asked the audience.
Henley ended by talking about the boy band mania from the 90s.
"They just get wet and multiply," Henley said.
Richards said he was glad Henley did a variety of jokes.
Richards said, "He not only cracked Southern jokes, but he cracked Northern jokes as well; it was a good combination."
