Last Chance Dave, Faceplant and The American Tragedy performed for an audience of about 55 on April 1 at Rabb's Steak House, located on 2647 S. Service Road.

The show started around 11 p.m. with Last Chance Dave, a Baton Rouge-based rock band.

Last Chance Dave's lead singer, David Brooks, was sporting a white polo with a blue-green shirt.

"They don't look like a rock band," Milton Mitchell, a junior electrical engineering major, said.

Faceplant, a rowdy band from Houston, brought props and signs to interact with their audience. The homemade laminated signs that read "come up front," "dance," "scream," "applaud," "boogie down" and "party" helped involve the crowd.

Just when the audience was getting used to the bright signs, Bryan Broussard on backup vocals shocked them with his phallic head gear and distasteful sexual gestures.

However, the crowd seemed to enjoy the eclectic band's heavy guitar, Broussard's rapping and Billy Hargrove's lead vocals.

Jason Ball, a junior aviation management major, said he enjoyed Faceplant.

"They always put on a good show, and they just have good stage presence," Ball said.

When 1 a.m. rolled around, the audience was anxious for The American Tragedy to perform.

Ball said he is a big Tragedy fan.

"I like them because all of the guys are great, and just knowing how the music was written and what it's about is awesome," Ball said.

The energy-packed show was defiantly a crowd pleaser.

Lead singer for Tragedy, Adam Dale, said he enjoys playing in Ruston because he likes the small-town feel.

"Playing in Ruston is a lot different from playing in Shreveport because it is void of a genre," Dale said. "In Shreveport we see the same people at all the different rock shows."
