It is a time when adults can be kids, clock towers become speakers and everyone can play with inflatable toys.

The Union Board presented its annual Spring Fling April 13-15, complete with moon walks, basketball, slides and wrestling matches.

"I came to Spring Fling with my friends to have fun with the student body and all mankind," Pierre Brown, a junior computer information systems major, said while watching a gladiator-like game.

Spring Fling in past years has only lasted one day. This year, it lasted three days due to a budget increase for the Union Board.

Lindsey Graham, a junior art major, said she enjoyed Spring Fling.

"[Spring Fling] is a blast," Graham said. "It's so much fun being part of an event that joins everyone together to have a great time."

Dustin Hemperly, a Union Board member who was in charge of Spring Fling and a junior fitness and health promotions major, said he was glad people were taking pleasure in Spring Fling because a lot of work went into the preparation of the event.

"The two to three weeks of planning that went into this event are all worth it when you see such a good student participation and turnout," Hemperly said.

He said he owes a lot of turnout to the extensive advertising of the event.

"If no one knows what's going on then all the effort is worthless," Hemperly said.

Fun and games were not the only things offered at Spring Fling; there were also food and drinks. A crawfish boil and cold drinks were all part of the celebration of spring.

"Spring Fling is an excellent time to get out and have a good time enjoying the good spring weather outside," Hemperly said.

The outdoors was not the only place Spring Fling made its mark.

Thursday, as part of the spring event, 1980s movies were played in Tolliver Hall. Friday, a free concert was offered from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Student Center, Main Floor.

"The Molly Ringwalds" band was featured to play for the students.

Hemperly said, although the Spring Fling turnout was superior, the Union Board is always open to suggestions to make the annual event a better one.

He said, "Spring Fling is put on for the students, so we would love to hear what they have to say; their advice is always welcome."
