Lisa Marie Presley

"Now What"

Grade: B+

Capitol Records

There is nothing "tender" about Elvis' offspring.

Lisa Marie Presley's second album, "Now What," offers sultry, bitter tunes all written by the princess of rock and roll with the exception of her first release, "Dirty Laundry."

"Dirty Laundry" is a remake from the Don Henley hit describing the trouble reporters often go through to publicize the news.

When listening to Presley's lyrics, one often wonders who or what she is referring to. The song "Idiot" is nothing but Presley bashing someone and letting them know she hates their guts. It makes you wonder which ex she is referring to. Michael Jackson or Nicholas Cage? Presley refuses to tell.

Being born with Rock and Roll surging through her veins thanks to her dad, Presley introduces track 10 with a recording of her singing at the age of three. The song "Raven" is a slow ballad about forgiveness.

Most songs on this CD are slow with a rougher rock edge. Her first album, "To Whom It May Concern," was years in the making, but although she spent less time on her latest release, the outcome was better.

Presley has found her niche in singing slow, sultry songs mixed with a little angst-ridden rock.

She enlists the help and talent of singer Pink on the song "Shine." The combination of Pink's set of tonsils and Presley's husky sound makes the song a guarantee on the charts.

Presley has established herself in the music industry by her unique sound and talent for writing her own songs. Being a Presley has its perks, but Lisa Marie didn't need them to make her album a success. She may not be tender, but the girl knows how to rock.
