Emily Allison, a candidate for the Student Government Association treasurer and a sophomore marketing major, said her main goal is to increase safety for crosswalks, increase the SGA loan amount for students and to continue Tech Express on campus.

"Currently students can receive loans for only $75. I would like to see that loan amount increased to supply a higher need for the student body," Allison said.

Allison is the current treasurer of the Panhellenic Council and has more than a year's experience in accounting.

"If I didn't have experience, there is no way I would run for the position," Allison said. "I am interested in students having a say in how the SGA spends money."

Allison said her creativity and openness to new ideas and experiences is what makes her a good candidate for treasurer.

"The student body would like to know where their money is going and how they can become a part of making sure it is used to benefit them," Allison said. "One way I know it will benefit students is by making sure there are crosswalks all over campus so that students can feel safe."

Allison believes if she gets input from students, she could help a lot in the way money is handled and how it benefits them.

"Every student on campus plays a part in the position that I'm running for," Allison said. "They are the ones who pay tuition, and that is a major part of understanding students and organizations -- to see where they want to see money go."

Allison said it is important for students to see how money is spent so they can see that it is being spent wisely.

"I am sure every student on campus is looking forward to new ideas and new projects for the upcoming years," Allison said.

"I'm sure if I'm elected, the money for student enhancement will be used wisely and timely for an even better school year."
