Final votes have been tallied, and the next Student Government Association vice president is É oops, not quite yet. We do not even know who is running and what their intentions are for our university.

Let us get to know our candidates.

Lindsay Mencacci, a junior biology major, has been involved with SGA for two years. Her main goal is to organize the Senate and efficiently use its talents and resources to serve the student body better.

"We have great senators, but we have not been effectively using them," Mencacci said. "As vice president, I will work with our senators to encourage active participation in creating and passing legislation beneficial to the student body."

Mencacci believes she has specific qualities that are necessary to be a leader and SGA vice president.

"I am assertive and self-motivated, so I can use this time to initiate and lead projects that the student body sees helpful," Mencacci said. "I dedicate myself to projects that I am passionate about and see to it that the necessary actions are taken to complete the task."

Some other positions Mencacci has received during her two years with SGA include being named the female member-at-large her first year on SGA and co-director for the department of student affairs.

Mencacci said these accomplishments are evidence of her ability to be a leader.

"I have proven that I not only occupy a position, but I make every effort to make the position work for the students," Mencacci said.

Mencacci's purpose for running for SGA vice president is to tie up loose ends so the students will be served more competently.

Mencacci said, "I see a need for someone to organize the inner structures of SGA so that we more efficiently serve the student body."
