"We're all in this together" is the slogan for Student Government Association presidential candidate Kimberly Ludwig, a senior business management and entrepreneurship major.

Ludwig feels the biggest issue to concentrate on is campus unity.

"It's not just about me but about the entire campus coming together as one," Ludwig said.

Ludwig wants students to "feel connected" to the university as well as ensure that students have a say in what goes on around campus.

Also, Ludwig would like to implement a program called "Blue Crew" to promote school spirit. With the plan, students who attend sporting events would have their Tech IDs swiped, earning credits to receive give-aways, which Ludwig said "is an initiative to get students to events and promote school spirit."

Last year Ludwig initiated a "Dorm Move," now renamed "Dawg Haul," in which current students helped freshmen move into residence halls. Ludwig said plans are in the works to extend the one-day event to a full week this fall.

As president, Ludwig would like to ensure more weekend activities are held to keep students on campus.

"Tech is known as a suitcase school," Ludwig said. "I would like to get bands to play in Tolliver Hall, offer free food in the cafeteria and maybe show a movie. I would like to work with campus organizations to learn what they would like to do on the weekends."

Ludwig would like to begin an open forum next year where students would sit down and have their problems addressed.

"Students could come to us and know they will be heard," Ludwig said. "Sometimes they don't know who to go to. That's what we're here for -- to get out and find out students' problems and needs."

Ludwig began as an SGA member-at-large and is now director of campus activities. She was a 2003 Orientation Student Leader, has been a member of the women's soccer team for two years and she initiated last year's Fall Festival.

Ludwig said after graduation she would like to start law school in Baton Rouge.

In her spare time she enjoys attending sporting events at Tech and going to the movies.
