Jenny Quinnelly, a candidate for Student Government Association treasurer and a senior speech communications major, said her major concern is to seek out students' needs where money is concerned and work with the SGA Senate to make sure money goes toward students' safety.
"This year I had the opportunity to write a bill with SGA to put safety lights in the back of Dudley [Residence Hall]," Quinnelly said.
"My goal is to get input from students to figure out how to expand the project all over campus and to get input from students and organizations on how their money is being used."
Quinnelly is the current president of Golden Key National Honor Society and president of the Association of Women Students. She believes her passion and devotion for the university makes her extremely qualified for the position of treasurer.
"What qualifies me for this position is that I have leadership skills, and I've worked in accounts payable for the last three years," Quinnelly said. "This gives me a lot of experience with accounting."
Quinnelly also serves as the College of Liberal Arts senator and believes the office has allowed her to gain even more leadership ability.
"Being a part of SGA gives me the experience to lead students and organizations to understand that their voice counts," Quinnelly said. "I just want students to be heard regarding where their money is going and how it is helping them have a wonderful college experience."
Quinnelly said money is needed in order for things to get done, and she will make sure money is used for the most important aspect, which is safety.
"There are students here from all over the world, and while they are here, Tech should feel like home, which means it should be a safe place," Quinnelly said. "It is my desire to make sure, with the help of the student body, that the project for safety is expanded all over campus."
