Yearbook pickup 9 a.m. Monday in Student Center with valid ID
The 2005 Lagniappe will be available for students from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Student Center, Main Floor.
The yearbook has an undisclosed theme that students will not know about until they pick up their yearbooks.
Students who were full-time students during the fall quarter can bring their Tech IDs to pick up their yearbook. All other students must pay $20 for a yearbook.
Students can pick up their books until the last day of classes in the Lagniappe office, located in Keeny Hall, Room 138.

Residence halls close May 21; commencement 2 p.m. in TAC
The spring quarter will end May 21.
Spring Commencement will be held at 2 p.m. May 21 in the Thomas Assembly Center, located at 1650 West Alabama Ave.
Gov. Kathleen Blanco will address graduates at Spring Commencement.
Classes will end May 20.
Residence halls will close at 12 p.m. May 21, and all residents must be checked out of their rooms by that time.
Food services will close at 6 p.m. May 20.

Professor prints second novel; on sale tomorrow in Bookstore
Sim Shattuck, an associate professor of English, will release his second published novel, “Basilisk,” this week in the Tech Bookstore.
The signing party will be from 9 to 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Bookstore.
“Basilisk” is a mythical monster that can kill readers with a look.
The book is about a college teacher who is stalked by an obsessed student. Ultimately, they have a confrontation.

Wildlife symposium to be held Saturday; register with $40 fee
The third Ark-La-Miss Wildlife Management Symposium will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Student Center, Main Floor.
The symposium is a one day session, titled “Button Heads to Big Bucks-Quality Deer Management.”
The topics of discussion will be presented by recognized deer experts, and some of the topics include how deer productivity is based in the soil and how individual buck antlers develop each year.

Breakfast provided for students with meal plan; $3 with no plan
The 29th annual President’s Midnight Breakfast will be held from 10:30 p.m. to midnight Monday in the Student Center, Main Floor.
The meal is free to all Tech students on a current meal plan.
Admission for guests is $3.
A breakfast buffet with traditional breakfast foods, prepared by Aramark, will be served by members of the faculty and staff.
Entertainment will be provided by the Tech Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Laurence Gibbs, an associate professor of music.

Band banquet 7 p.m. Saturday in Student Center; tickets $12
The Band of Pride fraternity and sorority, Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, will host the Spring Band Banquet 7 p.m. Saturday in the Student Center, Main Floor.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
The banquet will be an awards ceremony for all of Tech’s bands. Dress for the event is semi-formal.
Tickets are $12 and are available in the band office, Room 101 in the Band Building, located between the IDEA Place and the A.E. Phillips Laboratory School.

Sorority garage sale to benefit DART; item donations accepted
Alpha Chi Omega sorority will have a garage sale from 6 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
The garage sale will take place at the Alpha Chi Omega lodge on Sorority Lane, located off of Alabama Avenue.
Donations for the garage sale are welcome and can be dropped off at the Alpha Chi Omega lodge.
Items not sold at the garage sale will be donated to the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team house in Ruston.

Ruston High hosts 6 a.m. relay to aid cancer research, patients
The 2005 Relay for Life will be held from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. tomorrow at the Ruston High School track.
Relay for Life is an American Cancer Society-sponsored fundraiser whose profits go toward cancer research, education, patient services and advocacy.
Entertainment, games, food and refreshments will be offered during the event.
Tech organizations and Ruston businesses will host booths in hopes of meeting the joint goal of $40,000.
Everyone is encouraged to come and participate at any time during the night.
The survivor walk will take place at 7 p.m. on the track.
